This project consist of 172 one bedroom apartments for low income elderly individuals who may require supportive services, and a two-bedroom superintendent’s apartment. Eligible persons pay no more than thirty percent of their income for rent. The apartments provide to individuals and couples who may or may not require supportive services. Supportive services such as homecare, meals, weekly housekeeping and laundry is available.

This Assisted Living Facility on the grounds of Kings County Medical Center
adjacent to the Susan B. McKinney Nursing Home, a long term care facility.
This project will also be part of the continuum of care for elderly persons at
Kings County Medical Center.

 

THE POPULATION IS:

+ Individuals 62 years of age and older.
+ People with Incomes within the Section 8 eligibility as per New York City limits.

THE FACILTY PROVIDES:

+ Home Health Care
+ Daily Meals – Supplied through Meals on Wheels and/or Kings County Medical Center
+ Weekly Housekeeping
+ Weekly Laundry
+ Recreation
+ Twenty-four hour security

THE TEAM BEHIND IT ALL:

The Local Development Corporation of Crown Heights, a project principal, is a leading operator of community based support programs, including the operation of senior housing under the HUD, Section 202 program.

Sydelle Knepper, a principal of DKPG Inc. enjoys many years of experience in the development and financing of senior housing. Her firm, SKA/Marin Inc. has pioneered the use of various programs for the financing and development of senior housing, including tax credits, tax-exempt bonds, Section 8 rent supplements, secondary financing and other operating subsidiaries. .

Stanley Diamond, a principal of DKPG Inc., is a lawyer, former law professor and a recognized leader in the field of assisted living. He has been intimately involved in all aspects of the development, operation and/or management of ten New York metropolitan area residential facilities for the elderly, many of whom require assistance with the rigors of daily living, but do not require the skilled nursing care provided by nursing homes.
